Children’s Village Dentist Named to National Position

Jessica De Bord, DDS, has been named as the Executive Director of the American
Society for Dental Ethics (ASDE.)

YAKIMA—Jessica De Bord, DDS, was recently named the Executive Director of the American Society for Dental Ethics (ASDE), a section of the American College of Dentists.  ASDE is an international, non-profit organization of dental educators, practicing dentists, and other persons in dental health care dedicated to “enhancing the growing dialog about ethical issues in dental health care and fostering more effective ethics education.”

Dr. De Bord will take on these new duties in addition to her current role at Children’s Village as a pediatric dentist, specializing in the treatment of children with disabilities. After earning her dental degree from the University of California Los Angeles, Dr. De Bord completed a residency in pediatric dentistry at the University of Washington School of Dentistry and Seattle Children’s Hospital. She also currently serves as an Affiliate Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Washington.

ASDE holds three meetings each year in conjunction with other major organizations, including the American Dental Education Association, the American College of Dentists, and the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities. The meetings provide a forum to discuss upholding higher dental standards, improving competency of dental professionals, and thoughtfully discussing ethical issues that arise in the field of dentistry.

Dr. De Bord joined Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic in 2012 and is currently welcoming new patients at Children’s Village.  Children’s Village is a community healthcare partnership between Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic, Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, The Memorial Foundation, and Central Washington Comprehensive Mental Health.
