Talk about an opportunity for parents to relax, let loose and enjoy a “date!” The parent social last month was amazing and provided a much needed “evening out” for these parents. Maria Pulido, coordinator for the Parent to Parent Hispanic Support Group at Children’s Village, listened to her parents and saw a need – “These parents were sharing they have never had a date night since their children were born and never felt comfortable leaving their children with special health care needs in someone’s care.” But these parents did feel comfortable and safe with their children at the Children’s Village Early Learning Center when they attended the Parent Support Group, so Maria envisioned a “Couples Date Night” for her families! Everyone had a part in making the night a success. There was a Mariachi band who entertained and there was great food and great company. And, the children were happy and well cared for in the Children’s Village Early Learning Center. The Hispanic Parent Support Group meetings are held the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Children’s Village. Parents raising children with special needs are encouraged to come join us.
