Voices of the Valley – Back to School Send Off
Some mornings when the dew is still clinging to damp grass and the sun is painting the sky in shades of pink and purple as it rises, you can feel the change in the suddenly cool air. Fall is here (or at the very least just around the corner).
In our neck of the woods, daily temperatures are still in the 8o’s and 90’s but the shiny yellow school buses, stiff backpacks and squeaky new shoes are the real giveaways. School has commenced!
And with a mixture of nervousness and excitement, children all across the Valley have headed out to school, ready to embark on a whole new year of learning and growing.
We are collecting pictures of those precious ‘first days’ on our Facebook page. What an honor it is to ooh and ahh over the sweet faces of excited kiddos as they start a new school year. Check them out and add yours to the album.
It’s also a great opportunity to talk to our kids about kindness, compassion and bravery. While January might mark a brand new year, it is the beginning of a school year where we start new traditions, get used to new routines, make new friends and start a fresh new season with lots of interesting and different people.
And some might have special needs. They might speak, look or act a little different. But that doesn’t make them anything but the perfectly unique person that they are.
We all have something to learn from each other. To celebrate. To gain.
